Hello. My name is Nico Russell and I'm an award-winning writer, children's author and conceptual copywriter based in Southwest London. I have over 10 years experience working with creative agencies, production companies and as a freelancer, during which time I've helped companies inform, engage and excite their customers with clever copy and creative campaigns to ensure their brands remain top of mind and relevent to consumers. In 2012 I won the United Press National Poetry Award with my poem 'A British Heart' and in 2014 I published my first children's book entitled 'Nana's Knickers' which has been a bestseller on Amazon and in bookshops up and down the country winning various awards including 'The Word On The Ward Book Of Choice' as chosen by the amazingly brave young patients at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool. My next exciting project is hopefully writing for you...
Writing is just what I do and ideas are just what I have - I can't help it. I'm fascinated by words, the history of language and the ever evolving nature of it. Throw in to the mix the art of creating a piece of original work that excites, informs, entertains and engages either a child or a consumer in 2017 and I have myself the perfect work day. I can provide copywriting services for digital engagement including website content, SEO, social media management, e-mail marketing, banners and taglines, articles, white papers and creative concepts for brand strategy and marketing campaigns across all media outlets.
"Wow, this story really packs a punch! It's a jolly, calamitous read that moves along at a very neat pace. The character of Nana is very humorous and I really enjoyed the way she speaks and the way that Nico has written her."
Maria Tunney - Walker Books
"A brilliantly composed, aptly poignant and deeply moving poem that has quintessentially captured the solemnity of
a repatriation ceremony and what it's all about."
A C J Jelinek- Household Cavalry
"We love Nana's Knickers, it's fantastic! It's such fun and the illustrations are wonderful. It's the most popular book on the ward!"
Irene Axon - Alder Hey Children's Charity
I really enjoyed how the comic tone of the story was emphasised by the use of rhyme."
Emma Layfield - Hodder Books
This section contains a whole host of other miscellaneous writing projects that I've dabbled in over the years including my range of greetings cards, crosswords I have created, scripts I have written for television and radio including shorts, skits, sketches and songs and even the occassional speech.
As I stumble along life's perilous path, facing up to all and sundries,
I'll always do my best to laugh and wear some nice clean undies.
